What is a wiki? 

What does this have to do with math? 

Well, we're not going camping, but we are going to work together like the campers to create a math website. 

What are we doing?

We are going to create a website that explains how to solve math problems and defines math vocabulary words.  We will tag the pages with words that people can use to search for help with a certain type of problem or to find a defintion of a word. 

It's a math help site that is created by students to help other students.  It is just like Wikipedia, but all about math.

Where am I supposed to start? 

Wikis are super easy to use.  Follow these steps and you'll be a pro in no time. 

1. Review the wiki etiquette guidelines to brush up on communication skills.
2. Use the links on the sidebar to find your way around and get help with the wiki.
3. Ask for help if you get stuck.

Hey, can't anyone change what's on a wiki page? What if someone wrecks my page?

The wiki builders thought of that stuff too, so they built in tracking for every entry.  We can tell who writes what, when they write it, and from which computer workstation in the school the change to the wiki was made.  If someone wrecks a page we will be able to find out who did it and undo the damage.
